Headphone Safety Tips
Riding with headphones inhibits your ability to hear your surroundings. Car horns, sirens, accidents, and any number of environmental hazards that you should be aware of all make noise to alert you. However, if you are determined to ride while rocking out, here are a few safety guidelines and alternatives that you may want to consider:
- Only use one ear plug while riding
- Purchase a helmet that has speakers
- Purchase a motorcycle with speakers
- At the very least, don’t blare your earphones to their maximum volume
Even though motorcycle laws in Iowa do not prohibit riding with earphones, it is a good idea to be conscientious of the safety hazards that they pose to you and other motorists.
